Sustainability in the Workplace

We know that conserving energy and minimizing waste are not only good for the environment, but also your bottom line.  We are committed to helping you create a greener workplace.

SevenTips-GoGreen

  1. Go digital – read, send and store digital documents. Use electronic tools, such as software to simplify the way you use documents and cost-free online tools to simplify the way you communicate.
  2. Use paper wisely. Print on both sides of the page–also called “duplexing.” Print multiple images per page and print only the quantity you need at the time you need it. Print on paper certified to sustainable forestry standards or use paper with recycled content.
  3. Recycle the paper you use. Install bins around the office to collect paper for recycling or reuse. Paper manufacturers avoid the use of 3.5 tons of virgin fiber for every ton of recycled material used.
  4. Reach for ENERGY STAR®. RISO digital duplicators are ENERGY STAR® certified. Upgrade old products with new, more efficient systems and the savings add up.
  5. Replace stand-alone office products with multifunction systems. One multifunction printer that copies, prints, scans, and faxes can use half the energy of all those separate devices.
  6. Return print/copy cartridges and supplies for recycling. You can return your cartridges to Xerox for reuse and recycling with prepaid postage. Or consider a cartridge-free solid ink printer or MFP, which generates about 90% less waste than a comparable color laser printer.
  7. Seek office equipment designed with the environment in mind.
    • RISO and Xerox devices are designed with recycling and reuse in mind.
    • RISO digital duplicators and inkjet printers are built to last. Because of this, the amount of e-waste that ends up in landfills is reduced, as well as the number of hazardous materials that can contaminate the environment.
    • Unlike toner-based printers, RISO printers are free from ozone emissions, toner particle emissions, silica dust, and other air pollutants. RISO printers do not emit any greenhouse gases.
    • RISO duplicator ink is soy based, which is more easily recycled. Also, soy ink does not release a significant volume of VOCs, or Volatile Organic Compounds, into the atmosphere.
